Sanusi Drags Jonathan To Court Over Suspension
Suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi
Lamido Sanusi, has dragged President Goodluck Jonathan before a Federal
High Court in Abuja over his suspension from office, fulfilling his
desire to test the limits of presidential power over incumbent central
bank chiefs.
The
ousted bank boss is urging the court to restrain the President, the
Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police
from giving effect to his purported suspension from office as the
Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, pending the determination of
his suit.
He also wants the court to make an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing him from in any manner whatsoever from performing the functions of his office as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and enjoying in full, the statutory powers and privileges attached to the office of the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.
In the affidavit deposed in support of his application, the suspended CBN boss averred that in the course of his duties as the CBN Governor, that he discovered certain discrepancies in respect of amounts repatriated to the federation account from the proceed of crude oil sales between the period of January, 2012 and July, 2013 and that he expressed concern in respect of the said discrepancies and had cause to inform the National Assembly of the said discrepancies because theyy affect the revenue of the federation and the national economy.
He further stated that the actions of President Goodluck Jonathan, in purporting to suspend him from office, is aimed at punishing him for these disclosures.
The suit which was filed late Monday afternoon is still at the Federal High Court’s Registry in Abuja awaiting to be assigned to a judge for hearing of the suit.
President Jonathan in an interview Monday night argued that he has the power as the president to suspend the CBN governor. He even described his power as absolute.

In the suit filed on
behalf of the ousted CBN boss by his lawyers led by Chief Kola Awodein, a
senior advocate of Nigeria, Sanusi told the court that his
interlocutory application is necessary because of the issues raised in
the suit and that delay may likely entail irreparable and serious damage
and mischief on him in the exercise of his statutory duties as the CBN
Governor.
He urged the court to exercise its discretion in
his favour by granting the interlocutory injunctions as the President’s
continuing unlawful interference with the management and administration
of the apex bank, unless arrested, poses grave danger for Nigeria’s
economy and justifies the court granting his application which will
result in maintaining status quo ante bellum, that is, for his return to

Niger Delta : Groups Rejects Confab Committee Report
Isaac Asume Osouka speaking....
Numerous ethnic groups in the Niger Delta have rejected the core
ideas recommended by President Goodluck Jonathan’s advisory committee
for the convocation of the forthcoming national conference being planned
by the Federal Government. The disaffected groups insist that Mr.
Jonathan should, instead, rely on the submissions of various ethnic
nationalities in convening the national conference. In addition, the
groups described the advisory committee’s recommendation that the
National Assembly approve the conference’s outcome and that
representation at the conference be based on the 360 federal
constituencies as ploys to marginalize the Niger Delta people.

Breaking News: ASUP/FG Meeting Turns Rowdy as Lecturers Accuse Government of Insincerity
The meeting between the Federal Government and the leaders of polytechnic lecturers (ASUP) turned into disorder on January 21, 2014, Tuesday, amidst various accusations.
The meeting at the federal secretariat in Abuja was the initiative of the Federal Government seeking to put an end to three-month-long nationwide ASUP strike.
The Education Minister, Nyesom Wike, headed the delegation of the FG, while ASUP was led by its President, Chibuzor Asamogu.
The meeting went noisy and disorderly when the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), invited as observers to the meeting, accused the lecturers of fighting for selfish interests.
The ASUP representatives got annoyed and accused the Federal Government of inviting students to such meeting in order to harass lecturers.
However, the NAPS President, Ogbonnaya Sunday, backed ASUP’s stance and also accused the Government of insensitivity to the plight of students.
As the meeting got rowdy and a shouting match ensued at about 1.15 p.m., journalists were walked out of the venue and the meeting continued.
It would be recalled that ASUP has embarked on an indefinite nationwide strike in October 2013, in solidarity with ASUU, demanding among others, proper funding of polytechnics, and an end to discrimination of polytechnic graduates in the labour market.

Tosin Bucknor's anger over Nigerian government anti-gay bill ascent
Ruggedman shares opinion on recently signed anti-gay law
GAY WARFARE.............
President Jonathan yesterday Monday Jan. 13th reportedly signed a bill that criminalizes
same-sex relationships and gay rights groups in Nigeria. The bill contains
penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
Some people feel making this into law can get people unjustly killed or jailed and there are those who feel that Nigerians should be worried now because this is a homophobic country. And in all sincerity I am also worried. I hope incidences like Aluu4 doesn't become rampant. People who are mistaken to be gay can get lynched by a mob because our government has officially made it a crime. You know how we like to take laws in our own hands and enforce jungle justice. Hopefully this doesn't happen.
What's your take on the new anti-gay law?

"I battled insolence, leaching, sabotage from people last year' - Uti Nwachukwu
In a recent interview with Encomium magazine, the BBA winner and TV
personality talked about his bitter experience in the hands of people he
trusted that almost led him into clinical depression...
"I learnt a lot about loyalty and genuineness. I was really hurt last year year and a lot of true colors were revealed. I battled insolence, pride, treason, ingratitude, leaching, sabotage, and wickedness from people I least expected it from. I guess you have to be careful what you pray for, because I prayed for God to open up the hearts of people I care about. Let's just say if I wasn't spiritually strong with divine premonitions, I would have gone into clinical depression. But I guess I saw signs before but ignored them. God warns me in dreams but I guess I overlook these dreams. The hardest part was that I was and had been used by the most unassuming people and after confronting the issues, the parties act like they don't need you anymore but continuously gain from your platform. In all I learned so much about the human heart and also about myself and my errors. I am stronger (mentally and spiritually) wiser, more comfortable with my skin, more tolerant, gentle and definitely a lot more closer to God.
